Practitioner Night- Aging & Exercise
Overview
Our next practitioner night features Michelle LeBlanc, BKin., MA Gerontology, CSEP-CPT. She will be speaking on the significance of aging & exercise - evidence-based theory, context for practice, and other considerations for working with this demographic.
My name is Michelle, and I am the Owner of Beta Strength + Coaching. I’m a Kinesiologist and Gerontologist with national certification through the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology (CSEP-CPT). I’m passionate about movement - outdoors in nature if possible - and I thrive on teaching others how to be playful with their training.
My experiences with athletics early on taught me that while I am not the most naturally gifted or talented athlete, there is so much more to learn from grit + perseverance.
My approach to training most often involves curiosity: I enjoy learning about other peoples’ experiences and how these may shape our lives and attitudes. I believe that strength training can be delivered with kindness, openness and a genuine belief in my clients’ capacities. My area of specialization includes: 55+ demographic, women in their 30’s and 40’s, and climbers - though I am keen to work with any individual who wants to learn more!
In my spare time, you will likely find me climbing in Squamish or abroad, trail running in the mountains or on flowy trails, backcountry skiing, enjoying time near the water, or listening to thoughtful podcasts.
I’m also the Founder of Project Pride, which is a not-for-profit that facilitates climbing experiences for the 2SLGTBTQIA+ community and allies. Since 2022, I’ve organized events in Squamish, Calgary, and Canmore - reaching climbers from all across Canada and the US to develop climbing skills, inspire growth and building community.
