Practical Family Skills
Overview
Practical Family Skills
If you have an adult loved one with a mental health condition and have a hard time communicating in a way that is productive for your relationship and recovery, you are not alone! Communication is one of the biggest challenges families face when a loved one lives with a mental health condition. Practical Family Skills is a 3 hour workshop that focuses on communication skills, collaboration, emotional regulation and options for treatment. It is appropriate for all families/friends/caregivers of an adult loved one with any mental health condition that affects daily activities (including those that experience psychosis). We will learn and practice skills that you can begin to use right away, including:
- how to listen and respond
- how to validate what your loved one is feeling, saying or doing
- how to create and collaborate toward shared goals
- how to use boundaries
- how to manage our emotions
- how to navigate treatment and recovery
Join us on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 9am-noon.
