Power | Culture: Fields of Vision, Fields of Practice

Open to current undergraduates and recent graduates.
Global social and political movements illustrate the complex relationship between power and culture. These forces can both reify and oppose each other, and the interaction between power and culture holds concrete ramifications for the experiences of people worldwide. This conference probes contemporary implications of the power-culture dynamic by exploring notions of mobilization, dissent, and justice in workshops on Disability Justice in the Corporate Sector, the Symbology of Dissent, and Language and Arts in Politics.

About the organizer
The Undergraduate Committee on Global Thought (UCGT) connects undergraduate students to the rich resources on global issues available at Columbia University. Students from Columbia College, the School of General Studies, the School of Engineering and Applied Science, and Barnard College join the interdisciplinary work of the CGT, becoming involved in events and initiatives of particular significance to the undergraduate community.
