“Circular economy” is a sustainability framework that aims to design out waste and pollution, keep products and materials in use, and regenerate natural systems.

Here in the DMV region, it can feel like we spend more time in our workplaces than anywhere else. This panel and workshop will dive into a huge topic -- the circular economy -- at a tangible, workplace scale. On March 26 at 6pm, join the Leaders in Energy Circular Economy Working Group, DC EcoWomen, and the Aspen Institute Green Team for a panel and workshop that will give tangible tools on how to implement circular economy principles at your workplace.

Schedule:

6-7 PM: Panel, featuring circular economy experts:

  • Danielle Nkojo, Sustainability Analyst at DC Department of Energy & Environment

  • Stephanie Potter, Senior Director of Sustainability and Circular Economy Program at the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation

  • Shengyin Xu, Global Sustainability Manager at World Resources Institute

  • Moderated by Clifford Deaton, Co-Chair, Aspen Institute Green Team and Chair, Circular Economy Working Group

7-8 PM: Interactive breakout sessions with topic experts from the US EPA, American Geophysical Union, Sierra Club, Plastic Tree, and more. Discussion topics will include:

  • How to conduct waste audits

  • Low-to-no waste events

  • Common waste streams (eg: composting, electronic waste, etc)

  • Greening buildings

  • Driving change/entrepreneurship

Attendance is capped, so please register early.
