Collective Fieldwork for Ecological Attunement in Shifting Ecologies
POP-UP LAB DESCRIPTION
A two-day workshop that investigates water scarcity and desertification in Cyprus through multisensory fieldwork and site-responsive artistic methods.
Day 1: Fieldwork & Situated Sensing November 20th | Farm visit at Akaki
Engage with regenerative farming practices, attune with the landscape, and gather materials through walking, sensing, and recording. Includes an exchange with a local land steward and climate scientist.
Day 2: Creative Transformation November 21st | CYENS Thinker Maker Space, Nicosia
Translate your field experience into a 1-minute audiovisual or multimedia piece to be featured in the upcoming WIP LAB exhibition.
What You'll Gain

Requirements
- University Students from any field aged 18-25, based in Cyprus
- Preferred disciplines (but not limited to): Architecture, Design, Art, Photography, Multimedia, Biology, Science.
- Skillset: No specific skillset or prior experience in environmental research required—just curiosity and openness to explore. Experience in audiovisual techniques is welcomed but not mandatory. Interest and openness for collaborative work and open critical dialogue are necessary.
About the workshop instructor
Miguel Teodoro is a visual artist and researcher based between the Netherlands and Portugal. His research-driven practice explores the entanglements of materiality, geopolitics, ecology, and visual culture through site-responsive interventions. Recent work investigates techno-scientific transformations of land practices and their relationship to the political and environmental histories of imaging technologies. Teodoro holds an MA in Geo-Design from the Design Academy Eindhoven and a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Porto. He co-founded FIELD and Pousio, and since 2021 has coordinated Hiperlocal – platform for situated practices between art and ecology at the Mnemonic Pavilion, Viana do Castelo (PT).

Welcome and group introduction followed by an overview of Cyprus’s current and future climate by a climate science practitioner. The session continues with a farm tour and insights into agroecology led by a specialist in regenerative agriculture.
