What is polymer Clay?

Polymer clay is a particular type of clay that can be baked at lower temperatures in a residential oven to harden, as opposed to traditional clay that requires a high-temperature kiln. This is an easy material to learn to sculpt with and comes in many fun colors, including glow-in-the-dark!

How do I bake my clay figurine?

Accepted Answer

Sculpey Premo bakes at 275 degrees Farenheit for roughly 30 minutes per quarter inch of clay. On average, mushroom take up to 30 minutes to finish. This can be done in your home oven provided the area is well ventilated. If you return for the workshop on Day 2, I am able to bake it for you.

What happens on Day 2?

Attendees will learn to apply acrylic paint to their figuring to embellish their mushrooms by using techniques such as washes, dry bush, and a sprinkle of color theory.

Can I just do Day 1?

Absolutely! The Day 2 finish workshop is optional and is sold as a separate ticket. Many people find the second day very satisfying but is not required.

Are any of the materials dangerous?

Polymer clay itself is very safe. Some of the tools may be sharp (such as a knife or toothpick), however, and will require some care in handling. Attendees will be asked to sign a waiver before starting the class.

Can I bring my own materials?
