Polkadot Curation Markets Meetup

In 2017, Simon de la Rouviere wrote the paper "Introducing Curation Markets: Trade Popularity of Memes & Information (with code)!" to highlight a subset of token economics that is specifically about the curation of information. Votes are cast using tokens, imposing a risk of loss in case the vote is irrelevant, or through staking tokens in pools to order a hierarchy of values. When we see the asymmetries in the value of information wanting to dictate social norms, the truth in journalistic pieces being put into question on a daily basis, and the "vox populi, vox dei" imposing rules with nothing at stake, it's not hard to look at these markets as a field to explore and a tool for consensual opposing values.

This is a call and a shout-out to Polkadot dreamers that are questioning if it's possible for real people to do a better job than algorithms classifying information, that think that social consensus around the value of information can be achieved while creating an economy based on community values. During this event, a project called Kinergy will be presented. We are building the tools to reach a consensus on the relevance of cinema and video content, through the use of decentralized rankings, and the sort information on large-scale video platforms.
