Lowiczanie is a group of energetic performers and friends who are passionate about Polish traditional dance and music. We perform an average of once a month, and meet weekly to train and rehearse.

Join us every Tuesday at 7:45 pm as we workshop traditional folk dances from around Poland. Practices typically include beginner friendly warm-ups and covering of basic steps, before moving on to choreography.

Based on our performance schedules, some rehearsals are tailored toward experienced dancers, notably around late April and late August. Please email us at lowiczaniesf@gmail.com if you have any questions about a specific Tuesday, or to give us a heads up as to your probable visit.

Is there free parking?

There is limited on-site parking at Polish Club on a first-come basis. Street parking is available.

What should I bring?

A water bottle, athletic clothes, and sneakers (or footwear comfortable for dancing) are recommended.

Are classes suitable for all ages?

We welcome anyone to dance with us, ages 12+! For younger children interested in Polish folk dance, please consider our children's group Sokoly - https://sokoly.org/

Do I have to perform?

Performing is totally optional! We love to include all who wish to perform in whatever capacity they are able to. You can view example performances on youtube (search for lowiczanie sf) or on our instagram, @lowiczaniesf

I've never danced, are classes beginner friendly?

Lowiczanie is committed to remaining open to all who are interested. The beginning portion of classes are beginner friendly and consist of warm-ups and basic folk dance steps. The choreography portion is more advanced, but all dancers will have a chance to mark steps and participate.

How long is class?

The first portion consists of warm ups, basic steps, and review. After that, we learn new combinations and practice choreography. Classes can run until 10:30 pm, but please feel free to leave when you need. Please consider street parking if you must leave early, as our lot requires double parking.
