POETRY IN MOTION
Overview
Performance workshops for poets and spoken word artists. BEGINNER-FRIENDLY, all levels welcome!
Take one OR both sessions, they do not need to be taken in order. Come with a written piece to craft from page to stage!
• Sliding scale $5-25/per person/per session (quantity limited for each price tier, limit 25 students per session)
• Nov 6, 2025 - Session 1 VOICE: breath, point of view, phrasing, projection, connecting to a live audience.
• Nov 13, 2025 Session 2 BODY: focus, physicality, staging for poetry readings and open mics.
Teacher Bio:
Angela Dee Alforque grew up in a FilipinoAmerican family in South Sacramento. She trained in dance, voice, and musical theatre; and earned her B.A. & M.A. at Sac State, and Ed.D from Saint Mary's College of California. “Dr. A” formerly served as Performing Arts Director for Parker School in Hawai`i; Sac State Dance & Theatre lecturer; Sac City College Professor of Theatre & Film; and Director of !X Ethnic Theatre Workshop. After working 20+ years in education, followed by 4+ years in tv & film casting, she now teaches under her Sacramento-based community arts endeavor, LOVE IN MOTION. She also works in arts and entertainment administration; serves as a Guiding Matriarch for Matriarchy Theatre; directs and choreographs for theatre companies; gives guest presentations for colleges; and collaborates with local poets, artists, and musicians.
