Join us for a conversation with Sebastian Garcia, podcast producer, for the UCF Department of History, about how podcasts can be used to share research insights with broad audiences. This session will cover topics such as:

· How podcasting as a form influences the subject matter

· The two universal forms of podcasting: people chatting (interview-driven) and people telling stories (narrative-driven)

· Practices for “chatting” about academic research in podcasts

· Practices for “telling stories” via podcasting

· Other techniques when remediating academic research for podcasting

· Technical considerations

About Sebastian Garcia:

Sebastian Garcia is a master’s student in history at the University of Central Florida, with research interests in twentieth-century American technology and media history. Sebastian serves as the UCF History Department’s podcast producer, which includes series such as Knights HistoryCast and The 2023 UCF VLP Institute Podcast Series. He currently co-produces The Memory of Negro Fort Podcast. In addition to podcasting, Sebastian also works as a Media Production Assistant for the FHS, producing radio segments for Florida Frontiers, a weekly program that explores Florida's history and airs on NPR stations across the state. Through his award-winning multimedia work, Sebastian aims to strengthen our historical literacy and bridge the gap between the academy and the public.
