PMA Educates: Hip to be Strong
Overview
Join Angelie Melzer Saturday, November 22nd and discover how to build resilience, strength, and refined control in one of the body’s most important movement centers—the hip-lumbar complex. This workshop focuses on integrating the hips and lower back through targeted exercises that challenge stability across multiple planes of movement.
Participants will explore how to:
• Strengthen the deep stabilizers of the hips and lumbar spine.
• Enhance coordination between mobility and control for safer, more efficient movement.
• Apply dynamic progressions that prepare clients for everyday activities, athletic performance, and injury prevention.
Through guided practice, hands-on cueing, and layered progressions, you’ll gain tools to improve hip-lumbar integration in both static and functional contexts. Whether you’re working with clients managing lower back discomfort, athletes looking for performance gains, or movers seeking better alignment and flow, this workshop provides practical strategies to create lasting stability and freedom of movement.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
• Analyze hip-lumbar biomechanics and identify how the Reformer can be used to support and challenge stability.
• Apply spring resistance strategically to train eccentric control, core engagement, and dynamic alignment of the hips and spine.
• Teach multi-planar Reformer exercises that integrate rotation, lateral flexion, and extension for balanced stability.
• Modify and progress Reformer sequences to meet the needs of clients with lower back
Key Takeaways:
• Understand the biomechanics of hip-lumbar integration.
• Experience multi-planar exercises to strengthen and stabilize.
• Learn cueing and progression strategies for diverse populations.
This workshop offers 2 NPCP CECs for in-person attendance ONLY
