RAVING in Chicago emerged in the 1980s as an underground movement rooted in house music, which originated in the city's Black, Latinx, and LGBTQ+ communities. Venues like The Warehouse, where DJ Frankie Knuckles pioneered house music, provided safe spaces for marginalized groups to express themselves freely. These gatherings fostered inclusivity and solidarity, offering protection and a sense of belonging to individuals often excluded from mainstream society.
