About Debbie: Debbie Scott-Queenin is a South Florida photographer, residing in Fort Lauderdale. Prior to her life as a photographer, Debbie was an urban planner, specializing in seaports. Her 30 years of work assignments and travel created an appreciation of the world’s unique surroundings. Debbie likes to document “what she sees”, and respects the notion that she is a “guest” within each new place or realm, regardless of what/where it is or what it represents. In a sense, she tries to become a part of that other world, while at the same time, escaping from her own, giving her leeway to explore new adventures.
Drawn to building structures for their shape, form, pattern, texture, and color, Debbie envisions buildings as “breathing entities”. Whether towering high-rises or humble low-rises, each architectural feature, alongside the intricate electrical and mechanical systems, synergizes to cultivate an optimal habitat. These elements not only sustain us but also reflect our cultural identity and societal values. Yet, occasionally, circumstances demand certain features or systems to dominate others, instigating a sort of internal rivalry. Whether due to malfunction, system failure, or cultural evolution, these moments spotlight the need for certain aspects to rise and lead.
This collection of architectural aspects, including the former Sears building in Fort Lauderdale, is intended to represent the synergistic and competitive natures of buildings and their struggles to stand out above the rest and to reflect our values. Not only does Debbie intend to express their strength, but also their beauty in thriving within their environs. As Winston Churchill said, “We shape our buildings; therefore they shape us.” These words underscore the lasting impact that buildings have on our lives and society, influencing behavior and culture long after their construction.

About Jenny (In her own words) : Working in clay is therapeutic for me. Sometimes I have an idea of what I want to create, but not always. There are times when I just put my hands to clay and see where it leads. I have found that it is the process in clay that I most love. Art for it's own sake. That, and finding new friends and community along with my art has given me great joy.
