About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Join Marsha Leavitt at The Local Art Gallery on Sunday, July 13 from 1-3pm to transform paper into orbs!

There are many names for these forms – spiraling globes, triskele globes, or as Marsha calls them, paper orbs. Learn to make them from different kinds of papers. They look complicated but are actually very easy. Marsha will bring templates that you will cut out. You can use the preprinted templates and color in the designs, use already colored papers, or color your own designs on blank templates.

$15. Ages 10+ with an adult. Some hand strength is helpful to enjoy this workshop.

Check out our events calendar to find out what other artists are lined up for our Sunday Art Space each week.

Marsha Leavitt Artist bio:

Right out of college I taught high school for five years. Since then, I have been teaching adults in many capacities. I taught week long basket classes several times in the Smith College J Term program. I retired in February 2016 and was teaching basket classes in my studio in Florence until Covid forced me to let go of the studio.

I love taking classes as well as teaching and have taken many different basket classes. I love experimenting with different materials and letting those materials dictate what happens.

I have been a member of the Northeast Basketmakers Guild for many years and was on the Board for two years. I am also a member of the National Basketry Organization. My work has won several awards in several venues. I was juried into the Boston Society of Arts and Crafts virtual holiday shows for 2021 and 2022. Many years ago the Spectrum Art Gallery in Centerbrook, CT juried in some of my work. Recently I have had work in two shows at the Fiddleheads Art Gallery in Northfield.

I am truly a basketcase!
