Playing Harmonica with a Rack as a Second Instrument
Overview
A one-day, two hour diatonic (10 hole) harmonica rack workshop with Kyle Keilman.
In this workshop, in which bringing a C diatonic harmonica and a rack (think Bob Dylan) are highly important, Kyle will show how even a novice harmonica player can achieve an effective second instrument performance with a little knowledge and effort.
You don’t need to be able to hit single notes or bend notes to play with a harmonica rack, and your string instrument or keyboard. With just a bit of work, you can acquire the skills that have served folk, blues and pop musicians for decades!
Playing with a harmonica rack is a lot of fun and adds a new dimension to music performances. And even playing alone, any musician will find sonic surprises that are delightful.
Kyle Keilman has been teaching harmonica for over 50 years. He joined the Artichoke Teachers faculty in 2024 and has also performed onstage solo and with others at The Artichoke listening room venue.
