Play Isn't Always Easy
Overview
Pre-recorded Session. Not a live event. Webinar Recording will be available via your Eventbrite ticket purchase.
So, we agree that play is a valuable piece of child development and we encourage it between all students and teachers. As a field, we’ve shared thousands of ideas for specific activities that can be fun and have developed methods for brainstorming potential new activities.
But it isn’t always easy, is it? Some learners tend to: reject our approaches; insist upon rigid patterns; have restricted interests; “impulsively” engage with materials; become easily agitated by others interacting with materials, by “losing”, and more.
In this webinar, we will very briefly cover a few examples of “easy” play and will focus on how to analyze and program for play when it “isn’t so easy”. We will review video examples to practice scoring “wins” and “losses”, analyze easier/harder dimensions, and problem solve.
Objectives
Participants will be able to:
1. List at least 5 learner repertoires relevant to making play “easy”.
2. List at least 2 exercises relevant to strengthening learner repertoires relevant to play.
