Plants as Color: Herbal Ink & Paper Texture Workshop
Overview
Before markers and paint, people used plants to create color.
In this hands-on winter workshop, children will explore natural plant-based inks and discover how different paper textures change the way color looks and behaves. Participants will experiment, observe, and create their own nature-inspired artwork using botanical materials.
This calm, creative experience blends art, science, and nature learning.
What We’ll Explore
• Natural inks made from beet, turmeric, hibiscus/butterfly pea, and spirulina
• How roots, flowers, and plants create different colors
• How paper texture affects ink absorption and appearance
