Plant Propagation Class

Plant Propagation Class

By High Plains Environmental Center

Overview

Fun, informative, hands-on class focusing on native plant propagation techniques.

Some of the plants grown in HPEC's nursery have never been grown commercially before. Many are critically endangered. Many have crucial pollinator relationships. Some don't even have Wikipedia pages! Get an inside look at the botanical science that make our nonprofit mission possible.

Nursery Manager, Stephen Hornbeck, will guide you through his secrets. Learn how nearly 200 species of native plant seeds are harvested, cleaned, prepared for germination, sewn, and now transplanted.

You'll get your hands dirty and practice propagation. In the spring, those plants will go to pollinator gardens across the state!

Accessibility: Space is narrow, standing for full class time. If standing is difficult you are welcome to bring a tall stool to sit at the work tables.

What to Bring: Water bottle, dress in layers, gardening gloves, wear sunscreen
