Pine Point Group Hike

By Cecilia

Overview

On February 22 , come to the group hike of Pine Point Trail in Whiteshell.

This event is meant to make the outdoors more accessible and create community for people looking to explore Manitoba more. Please know that this is meant to be a chill way to meet more people and find joy outside. This is not a guided hike, rather a group experience, so please come prepared and know that your safety is your own responsibility. Winter hiking comes with extended risk; plan accordingly, layer-up, and know the signs of hypothermia. This hiking group is run by Cecilia, @ccflz on Instagram.

The plan is to meet at Pine Point Trail in Whiteshell at 11am on February 22nd.

Pine Point is a total distance of 8.2km with options to take a shorter route if desired. It is a moderate trail that features a series of rapids and small waterfalls along the Whiteshell River. It has some lovely forested sections and sections of more exposed rocky outcrops. You can expect lots of snow along the trail and perhaps some icy sections. Part of this trail is multiuse, and groomed for cross-country skiing. It will be important that we stay off the ski tracks, and stay in the designated walking area along the trail. Pine Point is a well known hike that many love and enjoy!

What to bring:

  • packed lunch and snacks for yourself
  • water
  • appropriate clothing and footwear for a winter hike
  • optional: a thermos with a hot drink for you to enjoy during the hike.

Pine Point is located along PR307, between Nutimik and Betula Lakes approximately 150km from Winnipeg. If needed, carpool coordinations can be made in the group chat.

Anyone is welcome to join! If preferred, you can also join for part of the hike and leave at your own convenience. Hope to see you there :)

If weather conditions are unsafe, this event will be canceled.
