Overview

Explore the basics of pine needle coiling and weaving while creating a decorative coaster to take home.

This beginner-friendly workshop introduces the history and techniques behind this traditional craft. Those who finish early can try their hand at more advanced projects.

Registration includes instruction, all materials, and admission to the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center galleries. Water and coffee will be available. Participants should bring a sack lunch, and those ages 12 to 17 must be accompanied by an adult.

This event is part of both the ND250 commemoration of the United States’ 250th birthday in 2026 and Vinterfest, a month-long celebration of winter on the northern Plains featuring educational programs, outdoor recreation, and cultural traditions.
