Overview

Create a labeled diagram or 3D model of the equine skeletal system, muscles, or hoof anatomy!

Anatomy in Action is a hands-on horse science project where youth choose one of three anatomy focuses:


The equine skeletal system


The major muscle groups


The hoof structure


Participants will create either a large labeled diagram or a 3D model and present what they learned at our February Horse Club meeting and at the Spring 4-H Showcase.


Cost:


FREE for enrolled 4-H members


$5 for non-members


Timeline:


Dec 1–20: Choose topic & begin research


Dec–Feb: Build model or diagram


Feb 15: Project due


February Meeting: Presentations


Spring Showcase: Judging & awards


Youth Will:


Study equine anatomy


Create a model or large diagram


Label key structures accurately


Teach others what they learned


What to Bring:


Completed model or diagram


Any notes used to prepare the presentation


Who Can Participate:


Open to all youth ages 5–18. No horse experience required.

Membership requirement: Current 4-H membership is not required for participation in this event, but you must preregister.

Custodial Care: Please note that this event and its coordinators do not assume custodial care of youth in attendance. Adults (parents, guardians, volunteers, coaches, or chaperones) must be present for the supervision of youth participants.
