Photographing Big Field Sports: Soccer Workshop

Sports Photographers! Practice shooting big field sports with an on-field workshop! Join sports and commercial photographer Aaron Libed on the soccer field, where we will be going over preparation for a shoot and photographing a youth soccer game in Mountlake Terrace. The field workshop will run from 9am-11am on Saturday, August 16th. Aaron has arranged a friendly match between two local youth soccer clubs to play from 9:30-10:30. We will then share some of our best photos with the workshop participants.

This workshop is for beginner and enthusiast sports photographers who already have a good understanding of their camera and/or have taken Aaron’s “Parent to Pro” class. Here are the workshop details:

Meet at Evergreen Field 1, Mountlake Terrace Location Map

At the field, Aaron will be going over:

• Camera and lens preparation-putting into practice the “one camera, one lens” perspective taught from the class.
• The KPA’s of sports shooting- Positioning and angles
• Field positions for a soccer game
• Best practices of shooting a youth soccer game.

What to Bring:

• Camera and lens setup(s) you intend to use during workshop
• Stool, low chair, or kneepads if you use them
• Sun protection (hat, sunscreen)

Aaron will also provide onsite consultation in real-time, as the game is playing. The goal of the workshop is to further the passion you have for shooting soccer by giving you more tools and on-field experience to make better images. We will also have a question-and-answer session after the game.

About your instructor: Aaron Libed is a Commercial and Sports Photographer in the Seattle area. A former professional soccer player and recently retired from a 30-year coaching career, Aaron’s passion for capturing athletes at their best moments has come through his experiences as an artist and an athlete himself.

Originally from Hawai’i, he has been shooting sports for over 10 years and has photographed organizations such as: Capelli Sports, The Seattle Sounders, The OL Reign, The West Coast Conference, The Western Athletic Conference, Seattle University, The University of Washington, Santa Clara University, and various sports organizations all over the country. Aaron started out as many sports photographers do: wanting to capture his children on the field as they grew up.

Today, Aaron continues to work in the imagery field and his company, Image Driven Media, works with clients on building their athletic brand through imagery.
