Capture the scene with confidence and creativity. This is a workshop that focuses on honing photography skills specific to landscapes and the natural wonders of the great outdoors in a truly unique, natural setting at a magical time of year. Learn the techniques that will turn your landscape images into works of art, such as using light to capture emotion, a composition that connects with viewers, using camera techniques, lens filters for optimal image impact, and more.
Edged by 12 miles of coastline, Mashomack Preserve on Shelter Island is considered one of the richest habitats in the Northeast. The preserve covers a third of Shelter Island with 2,039 acres of interlacing tidal creeks, mature oak woodlands, fields, and freshwater marshes. It is often referred to as the “Jewel of the Peconic” and we have been granted private access to shoot in restricted areas that are the most scenic within the preserve.
We’ll meet at the Mashomack Visitor’s Center at 10:00 am and take some time to shoot here before carpooling along a four-mile private access dirt road to make our way to the historic Manor House and Ordway Wildlife Refuge – our primary shooting locations for the day.
Your Paid RSVP is a must for this event.
