About the Garden: The Phoenix Garden is a 6 acre garden with the goals of healing, creating community and teaching gardening. Volunteers are welcome to the monthly 3rd Saturday workdays. UC Cooperative Extension also host educational workshops on composting, beekeeping, pruning and other gardening skills.

Accessibility Notes: Our garden is mainly coverred in soil and mulch with small hills. There will be access to a bathrooms and water. Event staff are fluent in Spanish. If you have any questions about accessibility, please reach out to our team!
What you should bring: We provide tools and garden gloves. Please bring refillable water canteens, sun protection, close-toed shoes, clothes that can get dirty, and if preffered, your favorite garden gloves.
Volunteer Service Hours: Service Hours are available at this event for students, girl scouts, Young Men Service League and other volunteers.

Frequently asked questions
The Phoenix Garden main entrance is next to the large parking lot south of the San Mateo Youth Services Center. When driving up Paul Scannell Dr., you pass Lessingia Court then make a left to the large parking lot. The main garden entrance is to the right where there are two large cypress trees.
To get to Regina's Orchard entrance you drive all down Paul Scannell Dr. till you get to a stop at Loop Rd. There you'll be able to see two small parking lots to your left. You can park at either one and walk to large cypress tree where you will see compost bins and Regina's Orchard behind them.
Yes. We love having volunteers with a passion for helping their community and improving their ecosystem. We also do workshops and teach volunteers many skills. We count this education and training as volunteer hours to ensure you're able to can properly work on task . Please reach out to Julio.
