With community input, the initiative will develop scenarios for boundary adjustments in order to populate new and expanded school facilities and balance facility utilization throughout the County. At Virtual Community Conversations, participants will:

➢ Learn more about the Comprehensive Boundary Initiative

➢ Share your thoughts on priorities that should impact the school system’s boundaries

➢ Learn about the status of current school boundaries, including new and expanded school facilities

Why Now? The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic highlights the importance of the Boundary Initiative. As PGCPS works to get students back into classrooms safely, it is more important than ever to plan thoughtfully for student enrollment growth.

At virtual public meetings, the Boundary Initiative team will inform the public about the process and analysis, and hear from students, parents, guardians, teachers and other members of the PGCPS community about their priorities and needs regarding the County’s school boundaries.

The Boundary Initiative has three key objectives:

1) Create boundaries for new and expanded schools;

2) Balance enrollment among existing schools;

3) Identify potential elementary school consolidations.

The Boundary Initiative process commenced in the Fall of 2020 and will conclude by December 2021. Potential boundary changes will be phased in beginning School Year 2022-23.
