Master gilder and frame maker Peter Werkhoven discusses the art and craft of gilding and how the technique is referenced in the painting series The 613 by Archie Rand.

Gallery chats are short talks exploring the art and ideas in an exhibition. These twenty-minute talks take place in the galleries during lunchtime and are free with Museum admission.

Aedicule's Peter Werkhoven is an awarded European master gilder and frame maker, specializing in the conservation of picture frames, antique objects and historical architecture. He trained at the historic Dutch firm, Gehring & Heijdenrijk in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, under Paul Gehring, a third generation frame maker, mastering the craft of gilding and antique restoration/conservation for more than ten years before opening his atelier in San Francisco in 2003.
