Join New York Adventure Club for a seven-part series that delves into the diverse regions of Peru, uncovering how geography, history, and tradition come together to shape one of the world’s most dynamic and enduring cultures. In Part Four: Arequipa, we’ll step into Peru’s “White City,” where elegant volcanic stone architecture, dramatic mountain landscapes, and centuries-old traditions converge in spectacular fashion.

Led by Peruvian Tour Guide and cultural expert Vanessa Vasquez, our deep dive into the different regions of Peru will include:

• The historic center of Arequipa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built almost entirely from dazzling white volcanic sillar stone
• The Monastery of Santa Catalina, a cloistered city within a city that reveals a hidden world of colonial faith and daily life
• The imposing presence of Misti Volcano, and how the surrounding peaks shaped the city’s identity and resilience
• Colca Canyon, one of the world’s deepest gorges, where condors soar over breathtaking landscapes
• Arequipeñan cuisine, featuring dishes like rocoto relleno, chupe de camarones, and queso helado
• The blend of Spanish and Andean traditions, reflected in everything from architecture to festivals
