Dr. Bryson Payne is the Director of the Institute for Cyber Operations at the University of North Georgia, a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense. He holds a Ph.D. in computer science and has taught computer science and cybersecurity for over 27 years. Dr. Payne is the author of Go Hack Yourself, Learn Java the Easy Way, and Teach Your Kids to Code. He coached UNG's #1-in-the-nation 2019 & 2020 NSA Codebreaker Challenge teams at UNG, and he has served on the coaching staff for the 2021-2026 U.S. Cyber Teams. Dr. Payne has written over $84 Million in successful grants, and he is a popular online instructor with over 80,000 students from more than 180 countries. He was the first Department Head of Computer Science at UNG, he has spoken and taught on six continents, and he is a TEDx speaker on coding and cybersecurity.
