Join us for the second Performance Engineering Meetup where we'll discuss all things related to optimizing software performance!
Agenda
👨🏫 18:00 – Honey, I shrunk the data center by Przemysław Lalak (Allegro)
Ever wondered what happens if you actually pull the plug on an entire data center? Not just reroute traffic, but a full physical shutdown? Well, that's exactly what we've been doing for the past five years. In this talk, I want to share our journey and what we’ve learned from these pretty intense chaos experiments.
👨🏫 19:00 – A Journey of Improvement: Evolving from Ad Hoc to a Robust Performance Testing Process by Tomasz Popiołek & Jakub Zamojski (CircleK)
This presentation outlines our journey from ad-hoc, late-stage performance testing to a structured, proactive approach. Working in an agile, cloud-based environment, we improved by shifting testing earlier, choosing the right tools, and building a stable open-source platform. The adoption of Gatling Enterprise and team training helped strengthen our performance culture.
👨🏫 20:00 – Networking
After each session, there will be a Q&A where you can dive deeper into the topics and get your questions answered. And of course, no meetup is complete without pizza 🍕 and refreshing non-alcoholic craft beers 🍺
Meet the Speakers
Przemysław Lalak - leads a team inside Allegro's technical platform, focused on making sure the marketplace can handle anything thrown its way. They do this through serious performance and chaos testing at scale and help steer the ship during incidents. Off the clock, he swaps his keyboard for a bike as a passionate cyclist and traveller – and he'll happily tell you why Patagonia is the best place on earth.
Tomasz Popiołek - formally a People Manager, Change Manager, and Scrum Master, but above all a Senior Test Manager. Informally, a QA visionary focused on agile approaches and test process optimization. Outside of work, a military enthusiast and pilot.
Jakub Zamojski - Performance Engineer with a passion for implementing performance testing processes across various environments. Advocate of the shift left approach and continuous improvement. Combines analytical and technical thinking with a creative approach to solving recurring problems. After hours – instrumentalist, vocalist, and sound engineer.
About the Performance Engineering Community
We are a community-driven initiative powered by Sabre, SII, Cytiva, Pega, IG Group, Circle K and Allegro. Our mission? Bringing engineers together to share knowledge, exchange experiences, and connect. But it’s not just about tech—it’s about people too. That’s why we make sure our meetups have a great vibe, with plenty of opportunities to chat, network, and just have a good time!
Please note that during the event, we will take photos that might be published on our social networks and website https://cytiva.com/ for promotional and marketing purposes.
