氣 : Performance by Irene Hsiao with Dominic Kießling’s “Blob”

By Chicago Architecture Biennial

Overview

Chicago-based movement artist Irene Hsiao will bring SHIFT participant Dominic Kießling’s monumental floating “Blob” to life.

After selling out its debut, this mesmerizing performance returns to the Driehaus Museum. Chicago-based movement artist Irene Hsiao will bring SHIFT participant Dominic Kießling’s monumental floating “Blob” to life through Mond(e): 月亮代表我的心 – 氣. Inspired by the shifting aspects of the moon and the impermanence of architecture and anatomy, the performance embodies the interplay of air and energy as Kießling’s ethereal sculpture receives, amplifies, and returns every motion and emotion in a cycle of mutual transformation.

This program is partially supported by an Individual Artists Program Grant from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, as well as a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency, from federal funds through the National Endowment for the Arts. Special thanks to Sandy Guttman, Sarah Herda, Ava Barrett, and the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts.
