About Performance and a Party
Established in 2016, this event puts a dance performance in the context of going out with friends, meeting some new people in a cool space, and having a dance party. This night is about building community, having a good time, and finding ways to meet and gather people that isn’t at a bar or sporting event. We hope to bring people together to show them the power and beauty of dance to inspire, educate, and connect people.
The show is created, produced, and performed by The Warrior Poets - an artistic collaboration founded by Hannah Wendel, Yiannis Logothetis, and Elia Mrak. It’s a blend contemporary, folk, and street dance into dramatic, humorous, and engaging physical performance. Performance and a Party has been toured all across the United States, in New York, [at the end studio, No.4 Studio, Arts On Site, Triskelion Arts] in Seattle [at Base Art Space, The Collective and MadArt], Chicago, [at Fulton Street Collective] Los Angeles [at Navel], Atlantic City [a Community Outreach performance at Atlantic City Townhouses] and internationally in Brescia, Italy [at Palazzo Caprioli]. The Warrior Poets are looking forward to being back in New York City, where it all began!

About The Warrior Poets
Elia Mrak
I am on a mission to prove that everyone can dance. Everyone deserves joy. And everyone can heal. So I use the power of dance to inspire, educate, and connect people - transforming movement into healing for communities worldwide.
I believe deeply that the body is the most powerful medium for personal and social transformationI have been lucky to learn from some legendary mentors, including by not limited to: David Zambrano (Contemporary Dance/BELGIUM), Bonnie Bainbridge-Cohen (Body-Mind Centering/USA), Peter Shmock (Fitness/USA), Members of the Massive Monkees and Circle of Fire (House Dance/Breaking/USA), Kathy Kain (Touch Therapy/Trauma), Daria Fain (Qigong/FRANCE), and Irene Lyon (Feldenkrais and Somatic Experiencing/CANADA).
I have taught and choreographed for many international festivals, including Springboard, and have recently co-founded the Warrior Poets as a performance group to share our vision of dance as gathering, celebration, and storytelling.
Yiannis Logothetis is a dancer, performer, actor, choreographer, teacher and mentor. He grew up in Thessaloniki, Greece and moved to New York in 2013. His love for improvisation and instant composition led him to co-create Performance and a Party alongside Elia Mrak and Hannah Wendel. Yiannis got his BFA in dance from Marymount Manhattan College while receiving the “Gold Key” award for choreographic recognition. His professional performance experience began when he became a part of Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More NYC where he played the roles of Macbeth and Banquo. Later collaborations include Crystal Pite and Jonathan Young’s Betroffenheit tour with Kidd Pivot, Bobbi Jene Smith’s Caldera with CORPUS, Bobbi Jene’s Lost Mountain, Boaz Yakin’s feature film AVIVA, and Cindy Salgado’s dance/oral history film Melting Walls.
