People, Place and Policy: Community-Driven Solutions in Fairmead
Overview
We’re excited to announce the first episode in Sustainable Conservation’s Fall 2025 webinar series, People, Place, and Policy: Community-Driven Solutions in Fairmead, happening Tuesday, November 11 at 1:00 PM!
Over the next few months, Sustainable Conservation and our expert guests will explore how collaboration, innovation, and action fuel our momentum toward a healthy and sustainable future in California. Each discussion will highlight the connections between people, place, and policy that drive lasting impact for our shared climate and water challenges.
To kick off the series, we’ll turn to Fairmead. For generations, the community of Fairmead has faced dwindling water supply and advocated for more equitable access to water. As an unincorporated community, without a local government, Fairmead Community and Friends is showing what's possible when communities lead the way.
Join us on November 11 at 1:00 PM for an inspiring conversation with local Fairmead leaders on how collaboration, trust-building, and resource access are essential to community-based solutions, and how Fairmead’s journey offers a model to advance water equity and resilience across California.
Speakers:
- Vickie Ortiz, Secretary, Fairmead Community & Friends
- Miss Barbara, Presiddent, Fairmead Community & Friends
- Moderated by: Aysha Massell, Water for the Future Program Director, Sustainable Conservation
Many thanks to our generous sponsors: Environmental Science Associates, Jennifer Hernandez of Holland & Knight, Spottswoode Estate Vineyard & Winery, and the Wilson Sonsini Foundation for supporting our webinar series and sharing our vision.
