The base of our movement happens at our pelvis; the grounding of that movement happens at the pelvic floor. When our pelvic floor experiences dysfunction or imbalance, it can affect both our physical and emotional bodies. Yoga is about maintaining balance in our lives; yoga for the pelvic floor can provide a steady base from which to find and create balance.

Meet Afton

I had been dancing professionally for years when I was invited by a friend to my first Bikram Yoga class in 2004. As a person whom had always "stretched" and kept "in shape" for my dancing career, I was shocked to find myself a muck on the floor after only a few postures into the beginners series. The challenge is what lured me back into to the hot room (maybe I was having a bad day that first class) and it quickly became clear to me that this yoga was potent stuff. After a few years of a devout practice, encouragement from my teachers, and a need for change in my life, I went to Teacher Training in Hawaii in the Fall of 2007. I am so happy to share what I've learned through my many yoga adventures and being a teacher is a way for me to give back what has given me so much balance and sense of accomplishment in my life. Yoga is the complete regiment for mind and body maintenance. My hope is that I may help people understand how to maintain themselves and inspire others to become more productive and happy people through their own yoga practice.
