About this event

Renowned for redefining the role of the jazz drummer, Ari Hoenig brings his extraordinary trio to Caffè Lena for a night of boundary-pushing rhythm, melodic interplay, and deep musical conversation.

Widely celebrated for his inventive and expressive drumming, Ari turns the drum kit into a lead voice—not just keeping time, but telling stories. His signature style seamlessly fuses complex polyrhythms with lyricism, elevating the role of percussion in modern jazz.

Hoenig’s current working trio—Gadi Lehavi (piano) and Ben Tiberio (bass)—delivers a captivating blend of structure and spontaneity. Together, they create music that is cinematic, intricate, and emotionally resonant. Their recent albums, Golden Treasures (2022) and Tea for Three (2024), showcase Ari’s compositional voice and his trio’s remarkable interplay.

Over a decades-spanning career, Ari has performed with legends such as Chris Potter, Joshua Redman, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Shirley Scott, and has recorded more than 120 albums as a sideman and leader. As a bandleader, his projects have earned international acclaim for pushing the art of drumming into new melodic territory.

This is a rare chance to witness one of the most innovative drummers around in the intimate, acoustically rich setting of Caffè Lena.
