Paws for a Cause

Take a break from the chaos of everyday life and spend a few hours surrounded by the best kind of company: cats. Hosted by Year Up United LA Local Alumni Board this event welcomes Year Up alumni, family, and friends for a relaxing afternoon of reading, connection, and care.

Join us for Paws for a Cause, a feel-good volunteer event where we’ll read to adoptable cats at Stray Cat Alliance, a local nonprofit and no-kill shelter that rescues and rehabilitates cats in need.

Reading to cats helps them feel more comfortable around people, which makes them more likely to find their forever homes. It’s also a gentle way to unwind, reduce stress, and boost your mood.

Bring your favorite book and enjoy some quiet time filled with cat cuddles.

Optional: You can also help clean cat enclosures (the cats will still be inside), replace their water, make sure they have enough toys, and tidy up their linens.

We’re also running a donation drive leading up to the event for items like cat food, toys, and treats to support the shelter so if youd like please bring a donation.

Event Details

When: Saturday, November 22, 2025
Time: 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Meet-up: 10:00 a.m. nearby to grab coffee together before heading in as a group.
Where: Stray Cat Alliance, Los Angeles
Cost: Free (RSVP required, limited spots)

Extras: Free coffee/matcha latte for alumni that meet us early at the cafe(budget allowing) Will be emailing meet up spot 2 days before the event. Thank you <3
