Course Overview:

Foundational Social and Emotional Learning skills, taught with intention, are more important than ever in our school settings, classrooms, and parenting groups. Young learners need skills and vocabulary to develop self and social awareness and to engage in deep and meaningful education. Never before has the focus on relationships and belonging been so important.

This session will provide educators with an effective lesson sequence, and simple and profound practices to either begin or fine tune SEL. The framework that will be presented provides a common language to build emotional intelligence and positive communication/restorative practices in ourselves and with our students.

IFSEL’s recommendations for enriching teaching practices utilize creative metaphor, reflective questioning, experiential learning, and analytic thinking to activate young hearts and minds. While this workshop is geared towards elementary teachers, the lessons and practices described can be adapted for all ages, including higher education and parents. The sequence of skills and lessons outlined may serve as a starting point for building a comprehensive toolbox of skills or to be integrated into an existing SEL curriculum.

Please note that this Online Course is all inclusive and available as four consecutive Sessions only.

- Four Sessions of SEL Teaching, Practices, and Resources
