About this event
This Summer Solstice, take a moment to pause between two worlds.
As spring becomes summer, let's taking a breath at the threshold, the doorway between two rooms and two places in time. To take stock of where we've been and where we're going.
As time drags on we can end up on auto-pilot, forget to align ourselves with what we need to walk a path aligned with our values and needs. We're not here to direct your path or to shame you for your past, wants and needs. We'll simply breathe and create in this liminal space at a time where it is so difficult to simply stop.
Pause at the Threshold will comprise of three events. (Each event wil need to be signed up for individually):
Kickoff June 21st on Summer Solstice Zoom:
- Introductions/Icebreaker
- A short lecture on creating in hard times
- Writing Time/Body Doubling with optional 'time' related writing prompts
Halfway Check-In June 28th on Zoom:
- Talk about our struggles & wins from the week
- Writing Time/Body Doubling with optional 'time' related writing prompts
Open Mic July 5th on Zoom:
- Reading of highlighted works from the newsletter
- Get the chance to read part of what you've written during the event (6 minutes max, sign up posted ahead of time. If you're uncomfortable reading we can have someone do it for you.)
- Discussion on how writing went, and how to integrate writing more into our future
Pause at the Threshold is a combination of the magical and the mundane, open to all writers no matter experience level. Some lectures and discussion will touch on different pagan paths, but we welcome all beliefs (or non-beliefs.)
Daily writing prompts (June 21st to July 5th):
As part of the event, you can sign up for daily prompts during the two weeks of the event. This will include a single line prompt and an additional paragraph for those who need it. All prompts will relate in some way to 'time,' whether that be a scenario, a scientific fact, or a philosophical nugget.
You can then submit snippets of your work completed during the event to be shared in the newsletter during the second week. These will be sent alongside the prompt, put on the website, and will credit you as the author. You retain publication rights, and may request it be taken down from the website at any time.
The newsletter will also be used for any event updates. Your information will not be used for any other communcations, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
