By New York School of Interior Design

Overview

Join us for a hands-on pattern-making workshop led by Dan Funderburgh, featured in our current exhibition Sketching the Surface.

Join us for a hands-on pattern-making workshop led by Dan Funderburgh, featured in Sketching the Surface: Exploring the New York School of Interior Design Archives and Contemporary Pattern Design. Dan Funderburgh creates designs sold at Flavor Paper.

The pattern-making workshop guides participants through the basics of repeating art and wallpaper design. We will be discussing whimsy, ornament, and pattern repeat while creating hand-drawn pattern tiles. The pattern tiles will be converted into a digital repeating pattern projected in the gallery. This engaging exercise will demonstrate how contemporary designers use hand drawing and digital programs to create small and large-scale patterns.
