Morven-May MacCallum
Morven-May contracted Lyme disease, from the bite of a tick, at the age of 14. Unfortunately, it took more than five years for her to be diagnosed with Lyme disease and co-infections, by which time, Morven-May was so unwell that she had to drop out of school and was housebound thereafter. Suffering with a number of symptoms from joint and bone pain, fatigue, headaches, stiffness and aching in her back and neck, to issues with memory and general cognitive function.
Morven-May has been treating her Lyme disease for over 17 years and although she still has a long way to go, her health is improving. Morven-May is a patient ambassador for Lyme Disease UK and wrote the debut novel, 'Finding Joy' based on the story of a family's fight against Lyme disease. Her second novel, 'Keeping Joy', is the sequel to her debut novel and explores the long-term consequences of illness. Morven-May is also an elected Councillor for the Black Isle Ward, Highland Council.
