An interactive workshop with as much or as little hands on experience as you prefer that will leave you ready to raise your own poultry, from the pasture to the freezer. We will be processing Cornish x broilers as well as Freedom Rangers and Heritage breeds.

Participants will learn the basics of how to successfully raise poultry on pasture and process birds according to NC Dept of Agriculture regulations. Parting and packaging will be demonstrated. This is a hands on workshop suitable to mature teenagers and adults.

We will start promptly at 9am; attendees are welcome to stay until the last bird is packaged. Fee is $25/person. This fee does not include lunch or chicken to take home. Closed toe shoes required. Note taking materials (phone or pen/paper) recommended. Bring your own snacks/lunch. Water provided.

About the organizer

Organized by
Providence Farm

Providence Farm is a small farm located just outside Greensboro, in McLeansville, North Carolina. We are a few miles north of I-85/40, just north east of the 785 bypass. The farm is populated with rare, heritage breed sheep, miniature dairy goats, Tamworth pigs, and a ridiculous amount of poultry.  Responsible, sustainable stewardship in a predator friendly, pasture based regenerative system is what we're all about. We offer pasture raised poultry, pork, & lamb, as well as free range chicken eggs, various fiber related goods from our sheep, and other artisan goods from local producers.
