Past and Present

CMSC’s 27th season opens with a concert that is a study in contrast! L’Invenzione draws on the wonderfully rich music of 17th and 18th century Naples, performing on recorder, baroque violins and baroque cello. Then trombonist Kenneth Thompkins and percussionist Gwen Dease (on marimba) will perform selections from a work commissioned by Thompkins, by the contemporary composer Jeff Scott, who calls his creations “Urban Classical Music”.
