After seventeen (17) years of service to SE Michigan's nonprofit sector, Yodit Mesfin Johnson is departing from NEW. Before she exits her role on June 30 (06/30/25), join us for a celebration honoring Yodit's leadership and legacy, and the next chapter of leadership as Will Jones III takes the helm. Expect vibrant music, delicious food, heartfelt exchanges, and unparalleled company. You won't want to miss this moment to honor the past, present, and future of our beloved community and a leader who has been central in bringing so many of us closer together.

Is this event wheelchair accessible?

The lower-level of the venue, where the majority of the event will take place, is accessible via wheelchair from the back of the building. Folks needing to use this entry can park around back and wheel into the space via ramp.

Will food or drinks be served?

Yes, food and drinks will both be served. We're aiming to accommodate multiple dietary restrictions, with gluten-free and vegan options. And we'll have both non-alcoholic and alcoholic options available for those 21+.

Is there a dress code?

A moment like this only comes once, so please dress accordingly! You are particularly encouraged to show up rocking the outfits that fit your personal cultural traditions and heritage.

Will photos or videos be taken?

Yes, photos and video will be used to document the event. These images will be used in NEW's communications, marketing materials, and social media going forward.
