Welcome to our inclusive soccer group for women and non-binary individuals! Whether you're picking up a soccer ball for the first time or you're inspired to channel your inner Megan Rapinoe or Naomi Girma, this is the perfect place for you. Our focus is on learning through play and embracing every mistake along the way. Here’s what you need to know:
Age & Skill: Open to all skill levels, ages 18 and up. You don’t need to be fast, skilled, or in top athletic shape.
Commitment: We offer a flexible, low-commitment schedule with week-to-week sign-ups. There’s no need to commit every week. Please RSVP on Eventbrite or meetup.com/pasadena-womens-beginning-intermediate-soccer
Game Day: Join us each weekend for a two-hour session. We start by dividing into teams (5v5, 6v6, or 7v7). Please arrive 15 minutes early to stretch and gear up. Latecomers may not be able to join the game. We play in 25-30 minute intervals with brief water breaks.
Game Play: We include corner kicks, throw-ins, and goal kicks with simplified rules. No offsides or goalies to keep the game flowing and goals abundant. Don’t worry if you’re not familiar with some terms; we’ll explain everything before we start.
Rules:
- Be on time.
- No apologies needed—let’s keep the game positive and encouraging!
- Always pass to beginners.
- No dive tackling.
- Learn all positions: defense, midfield, wingers, and forwards. We’ll teach you!
- No ball hogging.
- Play non-contact.
- Give beginners space to make decisions.
- Avoid over-coaching; learning from mistakes is key.
- Experience all positions in one day—it’s a great life skill!
What to Bring:
- Water
- Shoes: Turf shoes, cleats, or gym shoes are fine.
- Shin guards (highly recommended)
- A soccer ball, if you have one
- Snacks
- Icy/hot or Advil, if needed (first aid available on-site)
Parking: McDonald Park offers ample street parking, with park fountains and restrooms available.
