About this event

  • Event lasts 7 hours

Change is hard. We all experience the stress and reluctance within change and yet there are ways that we can support others in their journey by building on their internal desires and dreams for success. Join us for a day’s overview of Motivational Interviewing where we will consider what makes people willing to take the next steps in improving their lives. We will explore change theory, skills for engaging people in conversation about ambivalence, and specific skills to support others as they consider their next move. (This workshop is interactive: participants must prepare to appear on screen).

Organized by

The Homeless Services Network (HSN) of Central Florida works to provide stable, long-term housing to people experiencing homelessness in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties. We lead the region's response to homelessness by giving grants to fellow nonprofit agencies that offer shelter, outreach programs and drop-in centers; we recruit landlords to participate in our housing programs; handle the rental payments; and manage a vast coordinated-entry system so that anyone in need in the three-county region only has to apply once for help. We also fund programs that provide transitional and rapid-rehousing, case management, physical and mental health-care for those who are homeless or formerly homeless, and other supportive services. Finally, HSN tracks homelessness data across the region to advocate for housing justice, improve policy and measure change.
