About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Fathers bring unique ways of parenting that offer important benefits for children's development, learning and well-being. Whether living together or romantically involved, or not, when two caregivers are raising a child, and are able to partner to complement the gifts that each of them can bring, everyone benefits. In this two-part series, June 3 & 10, we will discuss strategies to engage fathers in early childhood programs and family-focused services, and to support parents as co-partners.

June 3 (Session 1): Fathers' Unique Contributions from 11 am - 12:30 pm

Fathers and mothers both contribute to their children's development, learning and well-being, often in different ways, bringing different gifts. Come explore what fathers and "father figures" contribute to children's development and learning. Learn about the unique challenges that any two parents or family member caregivers face in parenting as a team, and how youcan support them as parents.

June 10 (Session 2): Making Space for Fathers in Programs & Services from 11 am - 12:30 pm

Creating warm and welcoming early childhood environments for fathers and other men in children's lives require an openness to their perspectives, to thinking and doing differently. Hear what fathers say "family engagement" looks like to them. Take a fresh look at your father engagement strategies to see how you might further support the unique contributions that men and father figures make to children's lives.
