Part 2: Saturday, June 26th, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM PST

The Science of Dyslexia, Practical Applications This session will build on Part 1 of The Science of Dyslexia, with a focus on instructional interventions for students with dyslexia and other students with word-reading difficulties and disabilities. The session will begin with an overview of characteristics of effective instruction for these students and how interventions can be provided within a multi-tier system of supports. Emphasis will be placed on the selection and implementation of instructional programs with evidence of effectiveness from scientific research. Teachers will also learn how to adapt reading instruction to make it more effective for students with dyslexia and other word-reading difficulties and disabilities. The session will include demonstrations of instructional activities from the interventions that were developed by Dr. Denton and her research teams. Detailed handouts will be provided to help teachers implement the activities in their own classrooms.
