Our weekly postpartum support group offers a free, safe, and welcoming space for new parents to share their experiences, challenges, and triumphs. Led by our friends at Williamsburg Therapy Group, Dr. Connolly and Dr. Schira, this free group provides emotional support, practical tips, and valuable resources to help navigate the physical and emotional journey after childbirth.
This class is being held exclusively at Canopy in our private classroom and is free for both members and non-members to attend. Come as you are, and feel free to bring your newborn or come by solo.
About your group leaders:
Dr. Katie Connolly is a postdoctoral psychologist at the Williamsburg Therapy Group who specializes in working with children, adolescents, and caregivers. She has a particular interest in caregiver mental health, including postpartum depression, anxiety, and challenges with bonding and attachment. Her dissertation focused on the mental health needs of NICU caregivers, informing her warm and attuned clinical approach. Drawing from psychodynamic, CBT, and DBT frameworks, Dr. Connolly helps parents deepen emotional connection by exploring their own attachment patterns and internal emotional experiences.
Dr. Alex Schira is a licensed clinical psychologist and Director of the Child and Family Program at Williamsburg Therapy Group. She specializes in parent-child relationships, attachment, and early intervention. A mom to twin three-year-olds, Dr. Schira brings both professional expertise and lived experience to her work with new parents. Her integrative, developmentally informed approach helps families build secure bonds, understand relational patterns, and navigate early parenthood with insight, empathy, and connection.
