Need more fun playtime with the kids?
Looking for a gentle way to get back into movement?
Interested in learning a cultural art form which builds strength, agility, and a sense of community?
The Capoeira Arts foundation's 5 part Parent-child capoeira class inspires multi-generational learning with basic instruction in capoeira movements, unique instruments, singing, and storytelling. Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian art form which is dance like, fight like, and played in a circle as a game.
About our instructors:
Professor Broderick is from the Capoeira School Danca De Mandinga. He is a fantastic teacher of all ages and levels. He teaches in numerous Bay Area schools and runs a monthly "roda" for the community. Teaching Capoeira is an extension of his efforts to encourage students to develop their full potential and to live life playfully as a creative artist. Mestra Papagaio, from CAF and a student of Capoeira since 1988, organized parent child classes in 2005 seeing the need for play and fun new ways of communication between caretaking adults and their children. Vovobau was part of the parent child cohort in 2005 and grew up with capoeira being a constant. He played proffessional soccer internationally, and now plays and coaches youth soccer in the Bay Area.
