About this event

Arts • Craft

As we approach the darkest days of the year, come make light and make friends!

Paper is a timeless, flexible medium — it can be flat or sculptural. You can use it to tell stories or to create abstract forms. In this workshop, we’ll add the element of light. We will make lanterns from archival rag paper of various weights. Using scissors, X-Acto knives, and awls, we’ll design patterns that glow when lit — whether purely decorative or full of personal meaning.

Together, we’ll approach the process with curiosity and play, inspiring one another as we cut, fold, and shape. All of the tools and materials will be provided for you. Please bring along an image or pattern that inspires you.

The day also includes a sweet touch — a memorable dessert to share. Please bring your own lunch; light refreshments will be available throughout the day.
