Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is held each October as a way to raise awareness about domestic and sexual violence. Purple is the color used to symbolize awareness of domestic violence. Therefore, we honor the value of community and courage as the Title IX Office gears up to “Paint the Town Purple” in October. All community members/children/pets/etc. are invited to attend this event. Food and a few “winner’s circle” prizes will be on deck! The day will start with a color run/walk/roll, so be ready to wear your white and be engulfed in the color purple. The Title IX Office will also accept any dollar donation and clothing donation. Dollar donations can go to any of the payment exchange platforms here: $SewaneePrevention (CashApp); Sewanee Prevention (PayPal); or Sewanee Prevention (Venmo). Clothing donations can be brought to the check in station on the day of the event and will go to a local domestic/sexual violence center. Participants who pre-register are guaranteed to receive a white t-shirt in their size as well as some additional registration swag. After the 5K is complete, participants are encouraged to go to the Sewanee football game at the Historic Hardee-McGee Field at Harris Stadium. Pre-Registration prices close on September 6th, 2025.
